  • Mallory & Madi – High School Seniors, Lakeland, FL

Mallory and Madi are sisters and are both graduating high school this year! They may live under the same roof, and both did color guard this year, but everything else about their fashion and personalities is pretty different from each other. That’s what made their session so fun – focusing on their unique styles and makeups as well as capturing the fact that they are hitting this milestone together!

  • Mikayla – High School Senior Winter Haven, FL

When Mikayla stepped out of the car for her senior photo shoot, I immediately thought she’s got one of the prettiest smiles I’ve ever seen! And the fact that she wanted to incorporate flowers into her session definitely fit her personality. My camera obviously loved her, and I might have to ask her back to do some fun creative shoots in the future.

  • Maddie H – High School Senior Lakeland, FL

The first time I photographed Maddie was when she was 1 day old in the hospital! Then she grew up, moved away for a while with her family, and just recently returned to Lakeland. Which meant I had the sincere privilege of capturing her senior photos! It was so amazing to see her again, so beautiful and grown up, and to catch up with her mom. Maddie’s older brother and sister were actually some of the VERY first kids I ever photographed when I was first learning photography. Her mom let me use them as my guinea pigs, even though 20 years ago I wasn’t even sure how well I would do working with kids and families. This session was very much a full circle moment for me in so many ways.

Congratulations Maddie and welcome home to your whole family!

  • Jordan – High School Senior

I took Jordan’s first senior pictures at the beginning of the school year, and then last week met up with him again to grab some cap & gown and sports images at his school campus. He played basketball and football for Lakeland Christian, so it was fun to roam around the LCS campus for these.

I really love when seniors get pictures done at the beginning and end of their senior year – there are several advantages to doing this.

    1. It breaks up the cost of senior pictures for Mom and Dad. There are sooo many costs during the senior year, and I’ve heard they really start to stack up in the spring. So why not get pictures out of the way in the summer or fall? Then you can grab a quick and easy cap and gown mini or college swag session right before they graduate!
    2. Hair styles change during the school year! Boys sometimes go from long to short, or short hair to long hair. Girls sometimes change hair styles or even hair colors. And sometimes there are even growth spurts or your senior gets their braces off during senior year. How fun to capture the before and after of their last year of high school!
    3. The spring before graduation gets BUSY! So it would definitely be more convenient to get pictures off your senior to-do list in September or October. (Or even during the winter months of Dec-Feb). And again, I always offer cap and gown or college swag sessions in April/May – so you can still sign up for one of those at the end of the school year.

Would you consider splitting your senior session into two parts?

Here are some more examples of incorporating your senior’s talents and interests into their session.

  • Prom 2023

I love that I got the opportunity to photograph this group of boys from Santa Fe High School for their senior prom. A lot of these kids have been classmates since they were little…so the moms wanted an official session for them and prom was the best time to coordinate everyone’s schedules. We shot at the Lakeland Yacht club, and there was a Lamborghini there to pose with. And kuddos to the moms for jumping into a shot at the end!

  • Soccer Seniors!

These boys have been playing soccer together for the past 10 years. Now they are all graduating! So one of the moms organized this session to celebrate this milestone, their friendship, and their mama’s love for them. I hope another group steals this idea and I get to do something like this again soon. So fun!

  • Sydney – 17 years old!

Happy birthday to my sweet “little” girl – Sydney Ashton! I do NOT know how she is turning 17 today. Time is a thief and the days are disappearing faster than I feel I can fully enjoy them lately. Sometimes I still picture her the cute little girl with beautiful auburn colored hair, freckles, and big ole cheeks! Now she’s this beautiful, tall, confidant, talented, compassionate, easy going, loyal, smart, Jesus loving young lady. We are so incredibly proud of who she is becoming as a person, and are thankful for all the roles and interests she has taken on as a teen in today’s world.

  • Jake – Class of 2023-ish

Jake was supposed to graduate with the Class of 2023. But he decided to finish up early! He’s already enrolled in trade school AND is working full time learning his craft – which I think is so impressive. He has older sisters though who got traditional cap and gown pictures done when they were seniors. So mom asked if I could re-create a cap and gown portrait for Jake to match his siblings’. I was happy to accommodate! And while we were at it, we captured some casual senior pictures with his truck and favorite outfit/look as well. Congrats Jake – your future is already bright!

  • Amrynne – Class of 2023

Amrynne was such a joy to photograph for her senior session. She had so many sides to her personality that made her session truly unique and so much fun! Roller skating – check. Cap & Gown – check. Class ring – check. Cheer-leading – check. Shooting on a lake in her home town – check. Guitar & ballet – check, check. A little bit of country girl – CHECK.

And to top off what made this session so so special for me personally – Amrynne was the first newborn I ever photographed in my home studio 18 years ago! Can you believe it? I even found her newborn picture to show a side by side. She was a beautiful baby and is now an even more beautiful young lady. Congratulations Amrynne on all your amazing accomplishments! Your future is so bright!

  • Payton – Class of 2023

Payton was one of the first seniors I had towards the beginning of the school year. We were blessed with an incredible sunset! And even though she and I both were covered in bird poop by the end of the night, I consider this session a success. Prove me wrong….just look at these images!
